BARG is one of two groups in southern England that is sponsored by the National Trust to inspect sites with archaeological interest.
The project is responsible for inspecting 10 areas in and around Berkshire. These areas contains some 50 archaeological sites. Finchampstead Ridges is a typical area. Most sites only require a yearly inspection as their archaeological content is relatively limited. The project usually visits sites in the autumn/winter when the vegetation dies down.
The project provides enthusiasts with an opportunity to get to know an area well.
