Thursday 16th March 2017 – The BARG Spring Quarterly Open Meeting will takeplace at 7.30pm in the De Vire Room, The Cornerstone, Norreys Ave, Wokingham. Our speaker will be Colin Berks MCIFA of MAS and BARG, giving a talk on the 9th-century Saxon Defences of Cookham.
Wednesday 7th June 2017 – The BARG Summer Quarterly Open Meeting and AGM will take place at 7.30pm in the De Vitre Room, The Cornerstone, Norreys Ave, Wokingham. Our speaker will be Dr Katie Tucker from the University of WInchester on the Search for Alfred the Great Project. The talk wil lbe followed by refreshments and then the formal AGM.
Wednesday 21st June 2017 – The Boxford Lecture Series will continue at 7.30pm in Boxford Village Hall. John Shepherd will speak on about household finds from Roman sites, in a talk entitled How the Other Half lived…in Roman Times! Much of John’s career has been focussed upon Roman provincial archaeology, working at the Museum of London for over 20 years.John is currently Andante’s Director of Archaeology. He is an archaeologist who has worked extensively in the field in Europe. Thursday 28th September 2017: The BARG Autumn Quarterly Meeting will take place at 7.30pm in the De Vire Room, The Cornerstone, Norreys Ave, Wokingham. Dr Steve Ford of TVAS will be talking on the Excavations at Elizabeth House (St John's College) Oxford – a Neolithic henge, Medieval Farm and the victims of the St Brice's Day Massacre? After the refreshment break BARG member Bob Brewer will talk on Lambourn's evolution: AD 300 – AD 2017.
