Berkshire Dovecotes

During the 1960s Esme Few, a BARG member, gathered information about Dovecotes from across the old County. These fascinating little buildings are usually associated with a high status site and range from the post-Conquest period to the post-medieval.

Esme's work, which includes photographs, slides and other records has not been published. This project aims to bring her work up to date and make it available in print or electronically. This will include a variety of documentary research and site visits. The project is expected to run for about two years and should not be an enormous task, but a very pleasurable excercise for those with an interest in researching and recording historic buildings.
