Tuesday 24th March 2026 at 7.30pm: Keith Abbott will give an online talk about Excavations at the Romano-British site at Wickham.
The Berkshire Archaeological Society, supported by other local societies (including BARG), have been excavating a Romano-British roadside settlement near Wickham, West Berkshire. A number of buildings from the Roman and Medieval periods have been revealed, together with fascinating insights into past occupation of this quiet corner of West Berkshire. The lecture will give an overview of the findings and interpretations from the first season of excavation – and details of how members can get involved in the coming season.
This meeting will be held on Zoom. It will be free for BARG members. Non-members will be asked for a donation of £3. Details of how to join will be sent to members by email and posted here later.
Tuesday 30th June 2026 at 7.30pm: BARG summer meeting. Bob Brewer and Paula Levick will speak about their research on the Lambourn Downs, predominantly focussing on Iron Age/Roman enclosures. Further details to follow.
